I cannot find DAQ assistant in the block diagram tools. Do i need to reinstall anything?

Another thing is that even if i do find it, how do i make the DAQ (USB6009) digital I/0 to control the functions of a normal button in labview 8.0 for example, use DAQ to control the high and low of the buttons or even select the button we want , if we have alot.

thank you

You have to install DAQmx in order to have the DAQ Assistant. Open MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) and expand the software listing. See if DAQmx is listed and what version. If you don't have MAX on your desktop, then it's certain that you didn't install DAQmx. It's on your drivers CD. It also came with the USB-6009 and can be downloaded from NI's support site.
You can easily wire Boolean indicators up to the output of the DAQ Assistant when you define a digital input task. There are also DAQmx shipping examples that show this.
