asking about sensor

Ok...i've a project at my campus (my examination to pass
degree). i've questions about sensors. How to know my sensor (stauff
20K) still running well by using multi tester and do i need AC batere?
mean while i'm preparing configure PLCD-8710 and PCI-1710HG-B with labview 7.1
